Although the Warriors didn’t land Giannis Antetokounmpo or pull the trigger on acquiring Jaylen Brown or Anthony Davis, a recent report indicated that Golden State might have been close to taking a big swing this summer.
According to The Ringer, “A small contingent of Golden State’s front office pushed for” a deal that would have included trading Jimmy Butler III for Davis. However, given that Davis was soon due for an extension and that he’s had a past riddled with injuries, Golden State’s front office ultimately punted on the idea.
Whether or not a deal for Davis would have enticed LeBron James into joining the Warriors is unknown.
