Rams DL Braden Fiske bulked up and shed body fat ahead of second NFL season

Just like his running mate Jared Verse, Braden Fiske is looking to build on a fantastic rookie season. The two Florida State products became instant-impact players for the Los Angeles Rams in 2024 and there’s a good chance they’ll be even better this coming season.

Verse added a speed rush to his repertoire this offseason and Fiske similarly worked to improve on the field. Fiske told Dan Pompei of The Athletic that he added about 8 pounds this offseason while still cutting body fat, focusing on getting into the best shape possible for Year 2.

Simultaneously, Fiske worked on improving against the run, which the added bulk will help with.

Fiske, meanwhile, focused on identifying his own tendencies in the run game. He also recommitted to being the best he can physically, stretching more and improving his diet. He weighs 293 pounds — up eight pounds — and says his body fat is lower. A tear in his patellar tendon required arthroscopic surgery, but he returned to practice in the spring.

After having minor knee surgery this offseason, Fiske is already back to full strength. He’s 100% healthy entering training camp, having no limitations late in OTAs and into minicamp this spring.

Knowing how hard he works, having a full offseason of training will help Fiske take the next step in 2025. He was already great as a pass rusher but if he can continue to improve as a run defender, it’ll keep him on the field for early downs and lead to more playing time.
