How to get to (and around) Coachella: Indio release traffic map for Coachella, Stagecoach

The Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals at the Empire Polo Club in Indio are almost at hand, which means hundreds of thousands of music lovers will descend on the greater Coachella Valley to attend.

When is Coachella?

The first weekend of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival takes place April 11-13 and the second weekend of the festival takes place April 18-20. Lady Gaga, Green Day and Post Malone will headline.

When is Stagecoach?

Stagecoach country music festival takes place April 25-27. Stagecoach set times were just released for the festival, which will be headlined by Jelly Roll, Luke Combs and Zach Bryan.

What’s the Coachella schedule?

Festival organizers have yet to announce set times for this year’s festival, but continue to check Coachella’s social media pages, as well as desertsun.com, for updates.

What roads will be closed during Coachella and Stagecoach?

To accommodate the drastic rise in drivers, Indio has released its roadmap to efficiently allow those passionate fans to enter and exit the festival grounds.

One road, Avenue 50 between Monroe Street and Madison Street has already closed and will remain so until May 5. This is to ensure the safety of workers, residents and commuters. Indio encourages drivers to use alternate routes including Highway 111, Dr. Carreon Boulevard, Avenue 48 and Avenue 52.

Below is a list of streets that will be the primary access routes to the festival on April 11 to 13, April 18 to 20 and April 25 to 27:

The following roads will be closed on April 11 to 14, April 18 to 21 and April 25 to 28:

More than 40,000 campers are expected to leave the festivals on the Mondays after each one ends. Drivers are urged to use the following alternate routes:

Ubers will be directed to the southwest corner of Avenue 49 and Monroe Street.

Friends, family and taxi drop-off will be located at the northeast corner of Avenue 52 and Madison Street.

No pedestrians will be allowed in the following locations:

Approved pedestrian access will be granted at the following locations:

Golf carts are not permitted at any of the above-listed locations.
