Desert Mirage 16, Duarte 8: The Rams got the season off on the right foot thanks in large part to their defense. Desert Mirage led 8-0 at the half on a Pablo Marcelo 8-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion. The Rams then opened a 16-0 lead thanks to an Angel Avila 5-yard TD run. Duarte finally scored with about three minutes left to make it 16-8. The Rams ran down the clock and punted it away giving Duarte one last chance, but Ivan Pesqueda forced a fumble and Joseph Vallejo recovered it to seal the win.
Hemet 37, Palm Springs 6: Nothing went right for the Indians in this one who fell behind 30-6 at the half, and the team that went 9-1 last regular season starts 2026 0-1. A lot of starting roles left open by graduation, and a road game against a tough Hemet team was not a great place for players to get their feet wet.
