A lot goes into being a top NFL quarterback. For a team to win, however, it often comes down to its signal-caller being great late in games more than anything. So far, the Chicago Bears have that with Caleb WIlliams. Even in his rookie-season losses, Caleb showed he could put his team in a position to win.
In a recent article, Mike Pendleton highlights former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck’s thoughts on quarterback Caleb Williams:
“The clutch gene that Williams displayed last year has helped bring in praise from former quarterbacks and current analysts, including Matt Hasselbeck. During a recent appearance on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Hasselbeck discussed Williams’ clutch ability, calling it a trait that is hard to find among even the most elite players in the NFL.
“The best thing I could say about Caleb Williams is he has a clutch gene that is really hard to find,” Hasselbeck said. “You can do all the great practicing and all the great, you know, 7-on-7 and all the whatever, but the elite quarterbacks, the elite playmakers, they have that clutch gene, and he absolutely showed that he has that.”
There is nothing like feeling like you have a chance late in games. Caleb Williams gave the Bears that in almost every game: 6 game-winning drives last season, and he is just getting started. Once he mixes in a well-rounded game with his killer clutch gene, Caleb Williams will be the quarterback most if not every defenses do not want to face.
