Villa, a 39-year-old Oxnard resident, was found with gunshot wounds to the head near the intersection of Second and H streets shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 16. Despite life-saving efforts, Villa died from his injuries.

Police detectives served an arrest warrant for Gonzalez in the 1200 block of Felicia Court around 8:30 a.m., authorities said. A separate and related search warrant was conducted the day before in the area.

As of 11:45 a.m. the man had not been booked into jail, police officials said.

The police department has requested anyone with information of the incident call Detective Ricardo Vega at 805-385-7688, the release says.
