An Oxnard man is dead after being struck by a truck Nov. 25, according to authorities.
On Nov. 25 past 6 p.m., police officers and an emergency medical crew responded to a crash between a pedestrian and a truck near the intersection of Victoria Avenue at Curlew Way in Oxnard and found a man lying on the road, according to an Oxnard Police Department press release.
The man “suffered major injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said. The driver of the truck remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, the release said. The man who died and the driver are both from Oxnard.
An initial investigation found that the man, 66, was a pedestrian and was standing in the southbound traffic lane of Victoria Avenue, south of Curlew Way when a 41-year-old man driving a Ford F-150 pickup southbound on Victoria Avenue hit the pedestrian, the release said. Bystanders “attempted lifesaving measures” on the man but the man “succumbed to his injuries,” the release said.
Speed or alcohol or drugs didn’t appear to be factors in the incident, the release said.
Authorities are asking for anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer Alexis Arellano at 805-385-7749 or alexis.arellano@oxnardpd.org.
