The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their third and final preseason game, with the start of the regular season just around the corner, and they got some great injury news on Sunday.
Just minutes before the start of their Sunday morning practice session, San Francisco announced that they’ve activated tight end George Kittle from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Kittle suffered a torn Achilles in the 49ers’ upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round last year, and he’s been committed to returning for San Francisco’s Week 1 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.
While that would still be a remarkable feat and shouldn’t be the 49ers’ plan, this is a giant step for Kittle, as he can return to practice and get some reps with the team over the next two weeks before a decision has to be made.
