Swimming Advisories Canceled for All St. Clair County Beaches

By The St. Clair County Health Department

The St. Clair County Health Department (SCCHD) has canceled water quality swimming advisories for all St. Clair County beaches. There are no longer advisories for Chrysler Beach in Marysville;  Holland Beach, Lakeside Beach and Lighthouse Beach in Port Huron; and Keewahdin Beach and Fort  Gratiot County Park Beach in Fort Gratiot. Bacteria levels indicate beaches are now safe for  swimming.

Water quality swimming advisories were originally put in place on July 17, 2024 due to elevated E. coli bacteria test results. Daily water samples were collected at the affected beaches and E. coli tests now  show results are within the acceptable water quality range as dictated by the State of Michigan.  Elevated E. coli levels are possible after a storm or strong winds because bacteria are carried in storm  water runoff, including drainage from creeks and ditches, and stirred up from waves.
