ZEELAND — The interim superintendent at Zeeland Public Schools has accepted a role in the West Ottawa Public School District, according to a social media post and reporting from WHTC.
WOPS welcomed Matt Stolz as the district’s new Associate Superintendent of Human Resources and Wellness through a social media post made Thursday, April 3. It’s unclear when he’ll begin in the new role.
ZPS voted Tuesday, April 1, during a special meeting of the Board of Education, to engage “an experienced search firm” to facilitate a superintendent search. The decision was made in consultation with Superintendent Brandi-Lyn Mendham, who has been on medical leave since October, according to an update from Board President April DeWitt shared Wednesday.

Stolz, the district’s assistant superintendent of secondary curriculum, has been serving as interim.
“This decision, made in collaboration with (Mendham), reflects a desire to explore various perspectives while ensuring the best possible leadership for our students, staff, and families,” DeWitt wrote.
The district hopes to have a permanent superintendent by July 1.
