DAR was founded in 1890 by proud lineal descendants of Revolutionary War Patriots, with the simple mission of promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women’s service organization. Our original DAR Chapter, Ottawawa, was organized in August 1906 and served for fifty-five years. We re-organized in June 1977 as the Ottawa Chapter.
