Zach Bryan sets U.S. concert attendance record with 112,408 at Michigan Stadium

Ann Arbor’s Michigan Stadium now holds the all-time U.S. attendance record for a ticketed concert, after country star Zach Bryan drew 112,408 people to his Saturday night show.

The figure was announced Sunday afternoon by show promoter AEG Presents. Bryan topped a record set last year by George Strait at a tour date in Texas (110,905), which had toppled a mark held by the Grateful Dead since 1977.

The concert ― the first in the 98-year history of the Big House ― also moved about $5 million in merchandise, which AEG contends is also a U.S. record.

Bryan’s 2½-hour set topped a Saturday bill that included performances by John Mayer, Ryan Bingham and the Texas Gentlemen, and Joshua Slone.

University of Michigan officials have said they hope Bryan’s booking is the first of many concerts to come at the fabled Ann Arbor football palace.
