According to the readers of the Enquirer, the B.O.B. — the Best Of Battle Creek among outfielders — is Gavin Deal of Lakeview in baseball and Bella Ryan of Marshall in softball. John Lucki of Gull Lake and Brooklyn Berning of Lakeview were each second in their respective sports.

Why he is the best outfielder in the city/area: A dual-threat outfielder for a young Lakeview team, the junior brought good leadership to the team with varsity experience. Deal has shown great range and hits in the middle of the lineup for the Spartans.
Bella Ryan
School: Marshall
Class: Junior
Why she is the best outfielder in the city/area: A rising prospect as a junior, Bella Ryan earned all-conference and all-district a year ago. The junior is hitting .511 this season with an impressive 10 home runs and 41 RBIs.
