Owners of The Waterfront Restaurant in Wyandotte announced on Friday, April 10, that the restaurant will close to make way for a new waterfront development. After 10 years in Wyandotte, guests will still be able to enjoy the restaurant’s waterfront views, outdoor patio and rooftop seating throughout this summer and into the fall.
The Waterfront Restaurant’s final day of service will be Oct. 11, 2026, according to a news release.Deciding to close the restaurant comes as the owners said they are “retiring from restaurant operations” and will repurpose the property into luxury apartments.
In announcing the restaurant’s closure, the owners thanked “all our loyal customers, friends, and supporters who made the past decade such an unforgettable success.”
All gift cards after Oct. 1, according to the news release, will be honored at Prime 166 on Oak Street in Wyandotte. Reservations can be made by calling 734-286-9046 and mentioning “Waterfront” when scheduling.
More than a year ago, a separate Waters Edge Atrium facility was added to the property for special events, which will also close.
Jason D’Herin, one of the property owners, told the Free Press that plans are for 30 luxury apartments on the property. Plans, so far, are for the apartments to be a mix of one, two- and three-bedroom rental units, with the majority being one-bedroom units.
The owners purchased the former Weyand’s Seafood on Biddle next door to the restaurant, which closed in 2024, for the project.
D’Herin said there will be a rooftop pool and a pool bar. There will also be 15 boat docks, primarily for tenants.
