Wixom man allegedly assualted by DoorDasher in December dies

The Wixom man who was allegedly punched by a DoorDash delivery driver in December has died.

On Dec. 28, police responded to a report of a man lying unconscious in a residential roadway. Authorities said Ryan Turner allegedly punched 75-year-old Lloyd Poole after Poole confronted Turner about speeding through the residential neighborhood, news outlets have reported.

Court records from the 52nd District Court Division 1 in Novi show Turner, 41, was charged with aggravated assault.

The Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office is reassessing charges following Poole’s death, according to a statement sent to the Free Press on Friday, May 22

“Our office was saddened to learn of Lloyd Poole’s passing,” according to the statement. “We will continue to seek justice for the Poole family. We are reviewing the case against his alleged assailant and may amend charges as appropriate based on the evidence.”

Poole’s family told news outlets in January that Poole faced severe brain injuries. He was reported unconscious in the hospital days after the incident.

According to a DoorDash statement given to news outlets in January, DoorDash permanently removed Turner’s access to the platform.
