Cross country is Livingston County’s strongest fall sport, and that isn’t likely to change any time soon.
A strong crop of freshmen has arrived on the scene, promising to keep county cross country relevant on the state level for years to come.
Six of the 25 fastest boys and eight of the 23 fastest girls in the county are freshmen. It’s not unusual to have freshman girls make an immediate impact in cross country, but the quality of boys is particularly noteworthy.
Pinckney is benefiting from an amazing freshman class that has four runners who have broken 17 minutes and 50 seconds.
Although Brighton doesn’t have the No. 1 runner on either list, the Bulldogs have the county’s deepest teams once again. Seven of the top 10 boys and eight of the top 15 girls are from Brighton.
