When does Cedar Point open? Dates, ticket prices for Michigan fans

A brief blast of warm weather may have Michigan amusement park fans planning their next road trip to one of the nation’s top amusement parks.

Cedar Point, located in Sandusky, Ohio, will reopen for its 2026 season on Saturday, May 9, although the waterpark will remain closed until closer to Memorial Day weekend, May 25.

Cedar Point operates 85-rides — including Valravn, Top Thrill 2, Steel Vengeance, Siren’s Curse and Rougarou — and family friendly rides and water-based options at the Cedar Point Shores Waterpark and pool, according to the park’s rides and experiences webpage.

The more than 350-acre park also offers dining, games, live performances and special events like HalloWeekends that takes place in the fall — Sept. 17 through Nov. 1 — on select dates in 2026.

During the off-season, the park completed upgrades and recently announced what will be new to the park, including a celebration of the nation’s 250-year anniversary on July 4, renovations of its Starbucks locations, the reintroduction of boardwalk nights and more.

The park is also newly offering a more expansive regional gold pass and VIP parking only for veterans.

Cedar Point, 1 Cedar Point Drive in Sandusky, Ohio, will open on May 9, 2026.

This year marks the park’s 157th season.

The Cedar Point Shores Waterpark typically opens around Memorial Day alghough a specific date is not listed on the park’s calendar.
