Michigan football is back, with their Week 1 game kicking off on Saturday, Aug. 30.
The Wolverines start their 2025 season with a home matchup against New Mexico kicking off Saturday at 7:36 p.m. ET. This will be the debut game for true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, who was just named the starter for the season opener.
U-M will aim for a bounce-back season after finishing 8-5 overall and placing seventh in the Big Ten in 2024. The Wolverines had a memorable end to their 2024 season, however, with their fourth-straight victory over Ohio State and an upset win over Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Michigan vs New Mexico prediction
Tony Garcia, Detroit Free Press: There’s not much to see except a classic Week 1 victory. The Wolverines have at least one 40-yard pass – one more than all of last season – and the “Un-der-wood” chants reverberate around the Big House as the freshman phenom scores the first and second touchdowns of his college career. On the other side of the ball, Zeke Berry earns the turnover Buffs, while Derrick Moore and TJ Guy each have a sack. The pick: U-M 34, New Mexico 9.
