A trio of Spartans have been named All-Americans.
Michigan State hockey picked up some additional honors on Friday, with three different Spartans being selected to the CCM/AHCA All-America teams. The Spartans had the most of any team in the country with their three selections.
Spartans star goaltender Trey Augustine and phenom freshman forward Porter Martone were selected as First Team All-Americans. Augustine also earned the Mike Richter Award as the nation’s top Division I goaltender on Friday.
The third Spartan to receive All-American honors was forward Charlie Stramel, who was selected to the Second Team.
All three of these Spartans have moved on to the professional level, with Martone currently starring for the Philadelphia Flyers. Augustine has made his debut with the Detroit Red Wings’ AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins this past week, and Stramel signed with the Minnesota Wild to begin his professional career next season.
