Three people were found dead inside a Redford Township adult foster care facility after a fire Saturday.
The fire occurred around 6 a.m. at the Tomas Woodbine Home, a residence for developmentally disabled or mentally impaired adults on the 15000 block of Woodbine Avenue in Redford.
Two residents escaped the home safely, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
Both the Redford Fire Department and the Livonia Fire Department assisted on the scene, according to a Facebook post from the Redford Fire Department.
“Crews on scene faced extremely difficult conditions and challenges that made both fire suppression and life safety measures incredibly difficult,” the department wrote in the post.
According to the post, crews remained on the scene for several hours, and the incident remains under investigation.
The Tomas Woodbine home has been licensed as an adult foster care home with a capacity of up to six residents since 2007, according to records from the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Agency.
