PINCKNEY — A new business in Pinckney will soon teach others all about mushrooms, whether they’re enthusiasts or just interested in learning more.
The Mushroom Conservatory will host a grand opening at 123 N. Pearl St. on March 14, according to owner Erin Hamilton. This is the company’s first brick-and-mortar store, including a full-service shop. For this week’s Livingston in Photos, I decided to take an early look at what the mushroom-filled business will offer.
The store is lined with mushroom growing supplies and kits, along with themed items like earrings and books, skincare and body care. The business also carries mushroom brew, tinctures and extracts.
Hamilton said fresh mushrooms may be available periodically beginning this summer, but supplying to restaurants and other local businesses will take precedence.
There’s an area behind the storefront where Hamilton plans to host workshops and invite the community to learn more about the world of mushrooms.
The Mushroom Conservatory launched in 2021 with the goal of making mushroom cultivation accessible. The business has taught thousands of people worldwide how to grow mushrooms through hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, online courses and educational kits.
