A content creator from Midland has been revealed as a player on the new season of “The Traitors.”
Morgan Cook is a part of “The Traitors: New Blood,” the new non-celebrity season of the NBC reality show, Entertainment Weekly reported Wednesday. The show premieres Sept. 17 on NBC.
Cook is one of 22 contestants that will compete in a series of challenges while players try to sniff out who among them is a Faithful, and who is a Traitor. They’ll compete for a prize pot worth up to $250,000.
Cook, 30, currently lives in Chicago and posts content for her 470,000 TikTok followers and 1.2 million Instagram followers.
In a TikTok video labeled “About Me,” Cook says she is diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and social anxiety, “but I am not diagnosed with ADHD,” she says. “A lot of people ask me if I have ADHD, so I just want to put that out there. Could I have ADHD? Maybe. Will it go undiagnosed for my entire life because I did well in school as a child? Yep, probably.”
In Entertainment Weekly, Cook says her anxiety could be a benefit to her “Traitors” gameplay.
“I am incredibly perceptive, and the right amount of paranoid in order to win it,” she says. “My brain has been training me for something like this most of my life. Being very attentive to detail and overthinking a lot of things can be a little exhausting in real life, but I think it’ll be a real asset in this game, and will hopefully help get me to the end.”
Cook — who coined herself “Most Likely to Get Lost in the Castle” in a self-declared superlative attached to her cast bio — says if given the choice in the game, she’d choose to be a Faithful over a Traitor.
“I think my brain is wired to (be a Faithful) over being a Traitor,” she says. “I prefer doing the detecting rather than avoiding being detected. Again, just picking up on little details, reading people — that’s what my brain wants to do rather than try to lie constantly.”
More than 60,000 people applied to be a part of the new show, according to an NBC release.
Among the other contestants on the show are a dog groomer, an astrophysicist, a Major League Baseball analyst and a pilot.
Emmy-winning host Alan Cumming will return for the show.
The first two episodes of “The Traitors: New Blood” will air starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 17. New episodes will follow at 8 p.m. on Thursdays on NBC and will stream the following day on Peacock.
