Bruegger’s Bagels’ locations in Michigan will soon don the name of another well-known bagel chain − Einstein Bros.
Bruegger’s locations in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, East Lansing and Royal Oak will be converted and each store will be remodeled and branded as Einstein Bros. Bagels. Both Bruegger’s Bagels and Einstein Bros. are part of Bagel Brands, which operates under the Panera Brands umbrella.
A sign on the door at the Bruegger’s Royal Oak location at 201 South Main St., said May 11 is its last day, as that store prepares for remodeling. Other conversions are taking place this spring and summer, Einstein Bros. said in a news release.
Bruegger’s Bagels in East Lansing has been closed for remodeling and branding as Einstein Bros. A grand opening event is set for Saturday, May 2. The first 50 people through the doors will receive a free bagel and schmear once a week for a year. Remodeling is underway at Bruegger’s Ann Arbor store.
The conversions add four stores to Einstein Bros. Bagels’ footprint of 17 locations across the state.
Jessica Serrano, Bagel Brands chief marketing officer, in an email to Free Press, said remodeling involves a four to five week closure for each location.
“The newly converted space will feature Einstein Bros.,’ “‘Elevate the Morning'” store design, Serrano said. Its menu will change, too, Serrano said. Einstein Bros.’ bagels are “distinctly lighter and less dense.”
Staff members of Bruegger’s Bagels have the opportunity to continue with the brand through the transition to Einstein Bros., which is also hiring across its Michigan locations.
