ATHENS — Colon beat Athens in four sets on Thursday in prep volleyball action. On the night, Raegan Thaxton was able to record her 750th career kill for the Magi. She finished with 18 kills and 10 digs with two aces.
“Raegan Thaxton was on fire tonight,” Colon coach Michelle Walkinhood said. “Raegan has worked hard to place the ball this year and it shows.”
Peighton Stouder totaled eight kills with nine digs and two aces, Braelyn Thaxton scored five kills with 12 assists and 15 digs. Amaya Johnson also passed out 17 assists with 14 digs while Jill Stabler finished with a team-high 22 digs. Piper Groff and Caraline Eells each had three kills.
Cats win in Williamston
The Three Rivers volleyball team brought home first place at the Williamston Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Wildcats won all six of their matchups on the court, including beating Pontiac Notre Dame Prep in three sets during the final.
To reach that final, Three Rivers won pool play matchups over St. Johns, Birch Run and Huron Valley in straight sets. The Cats also won in straight sets during the knockout rounds, beating Charyl Stockwell Academy and Freeland before taking on ND Prep.
Miley Southland totaled 115 assists. She recorded 15 kills and 24 digs while Dani Glass had a team-high 41 kills with 42 digs. Braylee Burg scored 31 kills and 11 blocks, London Hoffmaster recorded 28 kills with two blocks. Allie Yost finished with 25 kills, 18 digs and nine aces.
Ashlynn Barnes scored 10 kills, Abby Pettit added six kills and five blocks. Leah Kane finished with 28 digs, Kassidy Jeschke added 26 digs.
On Thursday, the Wildcats beat Paw Paw in three sets to improve to 3-3 in league action.
Southland scored 27 assists in the match with 11 digs, Burg had a team-high eight kills. Hoffmaster scored seven kills while Yost had six and Glass added five.
Constantine falls in finals
The Constantine volleyball team lost to Delton Kellogg in the final of the Falcon Invite on Saturday. In that final, Delton Kellogg won 25-22 and 25-21.
Earlier in the day, Constantine beat Centreville twice and also knocked off Howardsville Christian.
Jaelyn Buglione led with 26 kills, Jaedyn Herlein scored 21 and Raeann Michalek finished with 14. Herlein also recorded five blocks. Michalek had a team-high 31 digs, Buglione totaled 28 and Kate Jones had 24.
Anndee Evans finished with 63 assists and 24 digs.
