BATTLE CREEK – Without a single senior on the roster, St. Philip finished with the most wins among city girls basketball teams and advanced to the district finals.
For those things, and more, St. Philip’s David Grimm is our choice for the Battle Creek Enquirer 2026 All-City Girls Basketball Team Coach of the Year.
Grimm headlines the 2026 Battle Creek Enquirer All-City Girls Basketball Team, which is made up of members of the five city girls basketball teams and is voted on by the city coaches and the Enquirer sports staff.

With a young squad, peppered with underclassmen, including freshmen starters and role players, Grimm led St. Philip to a 14-9 record as the Tigers advanced to their fourth straight district championship game. St. Philip nearly flipped its record from a year ago, after going 10-14 last year. This year’s run included a six-game winning streak to end the regular season and into the postseason.
Grimm is joined on the all-city team by two St. Philp players in junior Addi Dzwik and freshman Quinn Dzwik.
Lakeview finished just behind St. Philip in the win total at 13-11 and adds all-city players Aaliyah Smith and Da’Nayah Williams.
Battle Creek Central finished 12-9 with three all-city players in Myliyah Mosley, Ky’Liera Guest and Za’Kariona Caldwell-McKinney.
Harper Creek’s all-city group is Taegen Anderson and Remi Zirkel as the Beavers went 6-16 with Pennfield adding Peyton Rhoades and Madelyn Hensel, also at 6-16.
