Spartans guard Kur Teng out for Moneyball Pro-Am with reported foot injury

A key guard for the Spartans is not participating in this year’s Moneyball Pro-Am due to an injury. But don’t worry, it reportedly isn’t a serious injury.

Michigan State basketball key reserve guard Kur Teng is currently sitting out the Moneyball Pro-Am event as he continues to recover from a foot injury that required surgery following season, according to Chris Solari of The Detroit Free Press. Solari caught up with Teng after one of the games earlier this week where Teng said he is still “kind of trickling in day by day” during offseason workouts.

The good news, though, for Teng is that he said he’ll be back to full-go within the next month. This would indicate he shouldn’t miss any real time when the season begins later this year.

Teng will be entering his third season with the Spartans this fall, with a notable jump in playing time and contribution from his freshman to his sophomore season. This past year, he played in 35 games (up 19 the year prior) averaging 7.3 points across 17.5 minutes per game. The year prior he averaged only 0.5 points across 3.1 minutes per game.

It’s never good to have a key player missing time during the offseason but this is a case where it doesn’t appear to be much of a problem for the Spartans. Teng should be back by the time preseason workouts begin, and we should expect to see a potential double-digit scorer this upcoming season as well.
