The DeWitt, Pewamo-Westphalia and Portland St. Patrick girls basketball teams each made runs to the Breslin Center this winter.
And all three programs had multiple players selected to the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan’s Best squad, which recognizes the state’s top performers.
DeWitt had Carly Dennis named BCAM’s Best in Division 1 and Sophia Beland earn honorable mention honors for their roles in helping the Panthers reach the state semifinals. Elly Bengel and Adrianna Eklund were selected BCAM’s Best in Division 3 after leading the Pirates to a state runner-up finish.
Portland St. Patrick’s Gracelyn Rockey was named BCAM’s Best in Division 4 and Macie Smith was an honorable mention selection after the Shamrocks finished as the state runner-up.
Haslett, Portland, East Lansing, Owosso, Bath, Laingsburg, Ithaca and Lansing Christian each had players honored by BCAM.
Haslett, which won CAAC Red and district titles, led Greater Lansing with three all-state selections. Christina Dixon and Kaitlyn Johnson were selected BCAM’s Best in Division 2, while Avery Hannah earned honorable mention accolades. CAAC White and district champion Portland also had multiple players honored with Lilly Thelen being named BCAM’s Best in Division 2 and Summer Stopczynski selected honorable mention.
East Lansing junior Sydney Black was named BCAM’s Best in Division 1. Owosso’s Danica Dwyer (Division 2), Bath’s Africa Beltran (Division 3), Laingsburg’s Brooklyn Holm (Division 3) and Lansing Christian’s Alyssa Shank (Division 4) were selected honorable mention all-state.
