“Dr. McKee exemplifies the kind of leader that MASA is proud to recognize — someone who leads with integrity, lifts up those around him and never loses sight of what matters most: students,” said MASA Executive Director Dr. Tina Kerr in the announcement. “His commitment to Rudyard Area Schools and to the broader Upper Peninsula education community is a model for superintendents across Michigan.”

MASA Region 1 officials cited McKee’s “strong vision and responsible financial stewardship” as well as his “steady leadership, high expectations, and authentic care for students and staff” as reasons for his selection.

McKee, who was nominated by several of his fellow Upper Peninsula superintendents, also serves on the Special Education Parent Advisory Committee board and the MASA board.
