A Rochester Hills couple died after the vehicle they were driving was struck in a head-on crash on Saturday, April 11, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 1:11 p.m. in Orion Township near Lapeer and Greenshield roads. The Rochester Hills man’s wife and another were couple critically injured in the crash.
According to an Oakland County Sheriff’s Office news release, crash investigators said that a 2015 Ford Fiesta driven by a 63-year-old Hazel Park man heading northbound on Lapeer Road, for an unknown reason, “left the road, drove through the median and into the southbound lane of Lapeer Road” and struck a 2011 Lincoln MKX head-on.
The release said the driver of the Lincoln was Alfred Henry Young, 86, who was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries on Saturday. Young’s wife, Florence Anna Young, 86, was hospitalized and died on Sunday. The driver of the Fiesta and his wife were hospitalized in critical condition as of Sunday evening.
Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is being investigated by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
