CONSTANTINE – The Quincy Oriole and Bronson Viking girls traveled to Constantine’s Sweetland Stadium on Friday to compete in track and field invitational action.
Quincy girls finish second at Constantine, Bronson takes seventh
The Quincy Orioles finished in second place at Friday’s Constantine Invitational with a score of 133 points, just 13 points behind than the champions from Schoolcraft who won with a score of 146 points. Bronson finished in seventh place with 33 points.

Brookelyn Parker, Jr. – Parker continues to make the crowd say “wow” anytime she takes to the track. Friday, Parker, a junior, continued her domination of the hurdle events, winning the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.64 seconds. Parker wasted no time getting back on the track, running in the very next race, the 100-meter dash, where she also won gold, winning in a time of 13.48 seconds. To finish out her individual running efforts it was Parker winning gold in the 300 hurdles in a time of 46.90 seconds.
Ashlyn Fickle, Fresh. and Abigail Miller, Sr. – Fickle and Miller swept the top two spots in the high jump, led by Fickle who won gold with a jump of 5 feet, 0 inches. Miller also jumped 5 feet, 0 inches, however the senior was awarded second place as Fickle jumped the height in fewer attempts.
Elizabeth Longardner, Fresh. – Longardner not only did her part in several relays for the Orioles, but she brought home individual silver, taking second in the 200 in a time of 28.41 seconds. Longardner also took fourth place in the 300 hurdles.
Elizabeth Craig, Jr. – Craig is one of the most consistent runners for Quincy, taking second place in the 400 in a time of 1:06.37 seconds, a personal best.
Finishing on the medal stand with a top six finish for Quincy was Abby Tinervia, fifth place in the 100 and second place in the long jump; Lainey Yearling, fourth place in the 800 and third place in the 1,600; Abby Leosh, sixth place in the 800; the 400 relay team of Isabelle Marske, Tinervia, Cheyenne Marske, and Longardner, second place; the 800 relay team of Craig, Isabell Blum, Tinervia, and Marske, fifth place; the 1,600 relay team of Brooklyn Hayes, Longardner, Craig, and Parker, third place; the 3,200 relay team of Leosh, I. Marske, Clare Robertson, and Peyton Proctor, sixth place; Hallie Jones, fourth place in the shot put; Addison Hasten, third place in the discus; Olivia Davenport, sixth place in the discus; Brooke McVicker, second place in the pole vault; Piper Craig, fifth place in the pole vault; Abby Leosh, sixth place in the pole vault; and C. Marske, third in the long jump.
Top Performances-Bronson Vikings
Miriam Sanchez, Soph. – Sanchez continues to come into her own this season and Friday just further solidified that. Sandez finished in first place in the 1,600 in a time of 5 minutes, 47.41 seconds while also taking third place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:34.12.
Itzel Albarran, Jr. – Albarran did not take the top spot in any race but did put up big points with her fifth-place finish in the 200, her fourth-place finish in the 400, and a fifth-place finish in the long jump.
Rounding out the Bronson effort with a top six finish was Alonna Goodsell, sixth place in the 100 and the 1,600-relay team of Albarran, Aubree Calloway, Goodsell and Sanchez, second place.
