Investigators found the inflatable tubes believed to have been used by three individuals who disappeared on the Muskegon River.
Michigan State Police said they also identified footprints that are being evaluated as part of the probe into the disappearance of Jazzmin Hock and Sarah Vida, both 28-year-old Muskegon residents, and Kayden Kovalcik, 9.
“Since this incident was reported, search and rescue personnel have been working continuously utilizing ground, water, and aerial resources,” MSP said in a statement Thursday evening. “Search efforts remain active, and investigators are following all available leads.”
Authorities are still asking for the public’s help to find the three who are missing. Officials said on X they believe the three were using orange and pink inner tubes.
Police said they have been missing for more than 24 hours and the search for them resumed on Thursday.
“We ask the public to please stay away from the active search areas to allow first responders to safely and effectively conduct search operations,” police said. “If additional public assistance is needed, we will make that request.”
Troopers began searching for the three after the father of one of the missing females reported he found his daughter’s vehicle at the Maple Island Boat Launch in Grant with a broken window, according to authorities.
The launch is about 16 miles east of Muskegon and about 20 miles west of Newaygo.
Investigators said the trio’s relatives have not been able to contact any of them.
