Two teenagers are dead after a shooting at an Oak Park home early Monday morning.
The city said in a statement that multiple 911 calls were received at about 4:48 a.m., Aug. 3, for gunshots in a residential area near Coolidge Highway, south of 9 Mile Road.
Oak Park Public Safety officers arrived on the scene within minutes and found an 18-year-old woman and 19-year-old man dead inside the home. Two more individuals “known to investigators” were taken to a hospital where they were listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues with the city’s public safety officers working in collaboration with the Oakland County Crime Scene Analysis Unit.
“This senseless act of violence and disregard for human life will not be tolerated in our community,” City Manager Erik Tungate said. “We are dedicating every available resource to this investigation and are committed to bringing those responsible to justice. If anyone has information, we urge them to come forward.”
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Oak Park Public Safety at 248-691-7520.
