Nino Salvaggio’s prepares to make its Livonia debut

After nearly a year and a half of construction, the new Livonia Nino Salvaggio International Marketplace is nearing its official opening.

Situated on the campus of Schoolcraft College, the market on Haggerty Road is set to open to the public at 9:30 a.m. March 11. The 48,000-square-foot marketplace, the fifth location for the family-owned local chain, will offer gourmet items, prepared foods, produce, a full line of meats, a cafe, flowers and a curated selection of wines, beers and other items.

The store, through a partnership with the college, offers students of culinary arts, business and supply chain management programs hands-on opportunities to learn about and gain knowledge about the grocery industry and business.

Nino Salvaggio’s new Livonia marketplace at 18600 Haggerty Road is in the college’s north commuter lot and adjacent to its Vistatech Center. Among the features inside the Vistatech Center at Schoolcraft College is its demonstration kitchen, the American Harvest restaurant led by the college’s esteemed culinary arts program, the Craft Grille, cafés, markets and more.

In Livonia, the store is expected to provide 200 new jobs and hiring across all departments, according to Nino’s Salvaggio’s website.

Specialty grocer Nino Salvaggio’s was founded in 1979 by the late Nino Salvaggio in St. Clair Shores. Its other metro Detroit locations are in Bloomfield Township, Clinton Township, St. Clair Shores and Troy.
