One of the biggest radio bands of the late 1990s, Third Eye Blind will be among the national headliners of this year’s Michigan Lottery Arts, Beats & Eats presented by Flagstar Bank.
The San Francisco-bred rock band — their 1997 self-titled debut album had five singles including “Semi-Charmed Life” and “How’s It Going to Be” — will headline the big stage on Sept. 5 along with Taking Back Sunday and tribute bands playing the music of Nirvana and Linkin Park.
Arts, Beats & Eats in downtown Royal Oak kicks off Sept. 4 with a show from Motown Hitsville Next Revue, rock bands Lit and Fuel, plus Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening. Sunday, Sept. 6, things go country with headliners Chris Young, Brett Young and Audrey Ray.
There’ll be more chart toppers closing out the four-day festival on Labor Day, Sept. 7 with R&B singer Ginuwine and Kool & the Gang. They’ll be preceded by Michigan’s own Laith Al-Saadi and a Michael Jackson tribute called MJ the Illusion.
The main stage is one of 11 platforms showcasing local and national talent of all genres, plus acts for kids, DJs and other programming.
As for new additions to the culinary lineup, super-hip Hazel Park restaurant Bar Gabi joins the fray, plus Royal Oak pubs the Great Dane and Royal Oak Taphouse.
Along with 200 performances, more than 50 businesses slinging cuisine and around 125 juried visual artists, the ticketed festival has plenty for little ones to do, too.
The Detroit News returns as a sponsor of the Kids Zone at the north end of the festival near Fourth and Main streets. There, kids will find the Michigan Science Center with programming like liquid nitrogen experiments, plus arts and crafts, glitter tattoos and more from the Faygo craft area.
Earlier this year, the festival announced it would stay in Royal Oak through at least 2030. According to organizers, 345,000 people attended Arts, Beats & Eats in 2025, and the event raised $400,000 for local charities and nonprofits.
