Multiple waterways closed to boat traffic in Cheboygan County

Several major waterways in Cheboygan County have been closed to boat traffic by order of the United States Coast Guard due to high water levels and debris concerns. 

According to a Wednesday update from the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, the closed waterways include:

The Coast Guard order is in effect until May 8. 

Area officials said lakes remain open to boat traffic, but boaters and anglers should use extreme caution as there is a large amount of debris in the water.
