The Spartans starting center for the upcoming football season has been finalized and announced by new head coach Pat Fitzgerald.
North Dakota State transfer Trent Fraley will be the Spartans day one starting center. According to Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows, Fitzgerald confirmed on Wednesday at Big Ten Media Days in Chicago that Fraley is the starting center for the Spartans as they enter fall camp.
Fraley was arguably the biggest addition Michigan State picked up in the transfer portal this offseason and was expected to start at one of the interior offensive linemen spots this fall. That has not been confirmed as the center.
Fitzgerald has noted that there is still a lot of open competition to be held as we enter fall camp in the next few weeks, but there are a few spots locked down at the moment. Fraley at center and Alessio Milivojevic at quarterback are the known starters on the offensive side of the ball at this time.
