Michigan State football is one of only seven schools still in the running for a three-star wide receiver from Illinois.
Zachary Washington of Wheaton, Ill. released his top seven schools list on Thursday, and it included the Spartans. According to the post on social media network X from Washington, Michigan State was joined by West Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, Ole Miss, Kansas State and Indiana.
Washington is listed as a three-star prospect in the 2026 class. He holds a rating of 87 on 247Sports.
Washington ranks as the No. 100 wide receiver in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 14 player from Illinois and No. 639 overall prospect in the class.
Michigan State is one of more than 20 schools to offer Washington, according to 247Sports. At the moment, it appears Michigan State is one of four teams truly in the mix for his commitment. He is expected to take an official visit to Michigan State on June 6, and also has official visits lined up with Wisconsin, West Virginia and Indiana over the next few months.
