A former Spartan is getting another workout with an NBA team ahead of the draft.
The Indiana Pacers announced on Wednesday that Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler will be working out with them later this week. He is one of a few players that will be working out on either Thursday or Friday.
This is the second reported NBA workout for Kohler, with the former Spartans star big man also working out with the Memphis Grizzlies last week.
Kohler was a four-year player for the Spartans, finishing his career with 127 appearances (including 67 starts). This past season, he started all 35 games for Michigan State — averaging 12.5 points and 8.9 rebounds across just over 27 minutes per game.
Kohler was a true Spartan Dawg and I’m hoping he gets a chance in the NBA. I would be shocked if he didn’t at a minimum land in the NBA G League and earn his opportunity to play up from there. But don’t be surprised if he impresses during a workout like this upcoming one with the Pacers, and lands himself on an NBA roster this upcoming season.
