A 36-year-old Monroe woman is facing charges following the Dec. 23 death of her 20-month-old son.
Rescue crews were called to the home in the 1000 block of E. Sixth Street about 9:48 a.m. to a report of a deceased child.
Coralan Peters was arraigned Feb. 4 in Monroe County District Court on charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse.
According to the Monroe County prosecutor’s office, the second-degree child abuse involved physical harm due to exposure to “an unsafe level of heat.”
Her bond was set at $750,000. A probable cause conference is set for 2:30 p.m. Feb. 19.
