The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office reported a missing 92-year-old man was located safely following a multi-agency search effort earlier this week.
According to the department’s Sunday, Aug. 2 press release, the man was believed to be lost in a remote, heavily wooded area. Deputies arrived at his last known location and activated the Emmet County K-9 Unit. The Readmond/Friendship Fire Department, Emmet County EMS, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office ATV Unit, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team and Emmet County Search and Rescue were all dispatched to help with the search.
After about an hour and a half, officials said family members were able to contact the missing man on his cell phone after he regained service. He was later located safe and in good spirits at a neighbor’s home. He was determined to be in good health after being evaluated by Emmet County EMS.
