The news around Michigan football has been so coach-centered that you may need a reminder about the Wolverines’ bowl game.
Michigan (9-3, 5th in Big Ten) is playing the Texas Longhorns (9-3, 7th in SEC) in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, Dec. 31. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. ET and will be televised on ABC.
The game will pit two teams that entered the season with national title hopes, only to be thwarted as three-loss teams outside of the playoff conversation.

With ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore fired on Dec. 10 after having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staffer, assistant coach Biff Poggi has risen to the role of interim coach in his absence, even as newly-hired coach Kyle Whittingham is with the team in Orlando. Meanwhile, a Michigan team without a national championship to play for may see only 12-15 players opt out of the bowl game, with senior defensive end Derrick Moore among those not expected to play.
