The Spartans will be one of 30 teams total from six regionals advancing to compete in the nationals, which will be played from May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.

Taylor Kehoe shot a 3-under 207 to finish in fourth place, the best 54-hole score by a Spartan in an NCAA Regional.

“This is not something that we take for granted,” MSU coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll said.

“We knew that we had work to do, but we also knew that it was within reach to make it. It was a challenge, especially going to a playoff but our Spartans stayed strong and it’s just a thrill to make it back to the NCAA Championship. This team has a lot of grit and we showed it today.”

Texas won the regional with a score of 5-under par 835 (279-271-285), followed by North Carolina in second (6-over par 846), Oklahoma State in third (8-over par 848) and Michigan State and Virginia tied for fifth place.

“I’m so proud of the way we fought back into the top-five,” Kehoe said.

“Clinching one of the last spots in a 3-for-2 playoff was definitely stressful, but I know we were ready for the moment. Now it’s time to get back to work and prepare for nationals.”
