Michigan State volleyball sweeps Michigan, earns first signature win under Kristen Kelsay

Michigan State volleyball is in there first year under new head coach Kristen Kelsay, and are off to a hot start in the 2025 campaign.

A 10-1 start to the Kelsay tenure, the Spartans were aiming for their first signature win under their new head coach. On Saturday, MSU hosted arch-rival Michigan, who was 10-2 and had received votes in the top 25 rankings.

The Spartans earned that signature win.

A 3-0 sweep of the Wolverines was on the docket for the Spartans, earning 25-14, 25-22, 25-21 victories in each of the three sets.

Bianca Mumcular was a superstar for the Spartans in the win, gaining 15 kills, 12 digs and 2 blocks in the game. Malayah Long added 10 assists in the game.

The Spartans return to action next Friday when they travel just north of Chicago to face off with Northwestern.
