Michigan State hockey had their first selection in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft when Chase Reid went No. 7 to the Seattle Kraken, and now, the Spartans have seen their second draft pick of the first round be announced. The Anaheim Ducks have selected Nikita Klepov with the No. 15 overall pick in the NHL Draft.
Klepov, coming from Russian heritage, was a native of Deerfield Beach (FL). He is a 6-foot, 190 pound right winger that spent 2025-26 with the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL. In his OHL season, he scored 37 goals and added 60 assists. Now, he will make the short trip over from Saginaw to East Lansing to join the Spartans for the 2026-27 season.
The Ducks moved NHL center Mason McTavish for the 15th overall pick, and the 29th overall pick, and a big reason to make that move was to get Klepov.
