Never one to shy away from a tough schedule, Tom Izzo and his Michigan State basketball team announced on Tuesday that they will be adding two additional non-conference games to their 2026-27 schedule, and one of those games will be against an old nemesis.
The Spartans announced the following two games, both of which will be played at home in East Lansing:
The notable one here, obviously, is the game against Penn just a few days before New Year’s Eve. Penn is now coached by former Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery, an old friend and adversary of Tom Izzo. Izzo loves to support his coaching friends with opportunities like this, so it’s not exactly a surprise, but you can only imagine how MSU fans will feel going into a game against McCaffery’s scrappy Penn squad.
