Michigan football sends young stars to Big Ten media days

We are exactly one month away from the unofficial start of college football, at least in the Big Ten, as Big Ten media days is set to return for the 2026 season.

The three-day series of press conferences returns to Chicago after a multi-year dalliance in Indianapolis starting in 2021 and a jaunt out West a year ago to Las Vegas. Set to begin on July 28 and culminating on July 30, all 18 schools will be in attendance, with head coaches presenting their vision for their program, while three student-athletes will have an opportunity to field questions from the media.

Last week, Michigan football announced which three athletes will be in tow, somewhat breaking from recent traditions. While it often had been that three seniors (and likely captains) would travel to the event, this time, it’s three leaders, but they’re not necessarily seniors. Sophomore quarterback Bryce Underwood, redshirt sophomore running back Jordan Marshall, and senior defensive tackle Trey Pierce will represent the maize and blue in Chicago next month.

Michigan is set to appear on the final day of Big Ten media days, on July 30. It will be Kyle Whittingham’s first time representing a team in the Big Ten, as he’s spent the past 21 seasons as the head coach of Utah. It will also be the first time that all three student-athletes will appear at the event, and it’s the first time in more than a decade that a quarterback will be representing the Wolverines at Big Ten media days.
