One of the funniest moments of the Michigan State basketball season has now gone even further and it’s amazing.
Tom Izzo’s mom — Dorothy Izzo — has reportedly gotten a poster of AI-generated images of herself hooping against Michigan State guard Kur Teng. Yes, that is an actual sentence I just typed out in the year of 2026. What a time to be alive.
Earlier this year in a game at Oregon, Tom Izzo called out Teng for his poor defense, stating he couldn’t even guard his mother — who is 99 years old. That moment during the team huddle was caught by the TV broadcast crew and the internet had a lot of fun with the story from that point. That included some creating AI-generated pictures of an older woman playing against a Spartans player (perceived to be Teng). Well, those photos have been collaged into a poster and that is now hanging in the retirement home of Dorothy Izzo.

As I said earlier, what a time to be alive. This is awesome and I’m glad that Dorothy Izzo has gotten in on the fun of this viral moment from her son Tom.
I’m not sure how Teng has taken all of this since that moment in mid-January, but I’m sure he’s taking it all in stride and being a good sport about it. If not, maybe this latest addition of a poster will motivate him for a strong finish to the season.
