Update: The Lions provided an encouraging postgame injury update on Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
Third-year Lions cornerback Ennis Rakestraw Jr. suffered his latest injury setback on Thursday night during Detroit’s preseason opener at the Cincinnati Bengals.
After making a tackle on Bengals running back Tahj Brooks, Rakestraw stayed down on the Paycor Stadium playing surface. Rakestraw would exit the game under his own power, but he was favoring his left arm.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound corner would then head into the Lions’ blue tent and ultimately to Detroit’s locker room with the training staff alongside.
A 2024 second-round NFL draft pick, Ennis Rakestraw has been limited to just eight career games thus far due to injury.
A hamstring pull early in 2024 limited Rakestraw to eight games and only 46 defensive snaps his rookie season, per Pro Football Focus. Then, Rakestraw was placed on season-ending injured reserve in August of last year.
