Lions begin the return window for injured CB Khalil Dorsey

The Detroit Lions continue to get a little healthier as the season progresses into the final seven weeks. Another defensive player who has been out with injuries is beginning his comeback.

On Thursday, the Lions began the 21-day window for cornerback Khalil Dorsey to return from injured reserve. Dorsey has been out since Week 4 with a wrist injury, an injury he suffered while progressing through the NFL’s concussion protocol in practice.

Dorsey offers solid depth at outside cornerback, but his real value to Detroit comes on special teams. He’s been a primary gunner and outside blocker on the kicking and punting units in his four seasons in Detroit. Those areas have sorely missed his veteran presence.

The Lions have until the Thursday before the Week 15 trip to Los Angeles to play the Rams to activate Dorsey. If they don’t activate him, Dorsey will revert to I.R. and will be out for the remainder of the season.
