LANSING — Stay as cool as possible since today’s potential high of 95 degrees will feel more like 101 with heat index values, according to the National Weather Service.
A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. June 23 for large portions of Michigan including Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties.
The hot temperatures could bring on heat illnesses.
“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” meteorologists said in their heat advisory. “Make sure pets have plenty of water.”
Today should be the hottest day of the work week. The heat is expected to cool to about 75 degrees tonight before returning to an expected high of 91 degrees June 24, 83 degrees June 25 and 88 degrees June 26.
Showers are likely and there’s a chance of thunderstorms throughout the work week.
Weekend temperatures are supposed to be in the high 80s.
